Bunkola Wright, MSW
I am a Nigerian-born Registered Social Worker and practicing as a Mental Health Therapist in a community-based organization. Cognizant that therapy is a joint process, I encourage the individuals I work with to be the guiding force behind their change and the healing process. I believe the people I am fortunate to see in session are experts in their own lives and possess latent strengths to combat challenges impacting their mental health. I also believe in meeting people where they are at in their journey while together creating safe space, authentic connection, and collaboration as the driving force for change.
I have a passion in working with individuals experiencing complex trauma, grief and loss, attachment, family systems, and the cultivation of self-compassion in the therapeutic context to alleviate and enhance wellbeing. My areas of focus include, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, and PTSD. In addition, I have extensive experience working with people who are involved with children services, residential group homes, immigration and settlement, as well as persons struggling with serious and persistent mental illness and addiction.
I take an eclectic approach to treatment that is holistic, person centered and is strength based. I draw from different modalities such as attachment-based therapy, play-based therapy, trauma-focused therapies, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, just to name a few.
I look forward to partnering and journeying with you towards your therapeutic goals.
