Chanae Smith, MA
Having experienced being in the client’s seat, I understand the importance of a compassionate approach and sensitivity to the process that unfolds. My promise to you is that you will be treated with care, dignity and respect. Together, we will work to define, understand, and pursue your personal goals.
I have been fortunate enough to work in school, community, and clinical settings, and have been providing mental-health support for the past 8 years. While my primary area of expertise is in my work with children and adolescents, my experience allows me to competently serve adults and families as well.
I am dedicated to working from a strength-based, client-centered and trauma-informed perspective where I believe safety and security in the counselling relationship are key for progress to occur. My approach is integrative. I utilize evidence-based methods and techniques such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), attachment theory, and interpersonal neurobiology, while employing play and art-based modalities in my work with children and adolescents. As the client, your needs direct the therapeutic process.
