Michelle J Buckle, MA, CCC, RDT

As a doctoral student at the University of Alberta, Michelle J.Buckle brings her interests in arts-based research,dramatherapy, and exploring the experiences of homicide survivors affected by historical trauma to the Department of Secondary Education. With over 26 years’ experience as a
psychologist in the dramatherapy field, Michelle runs a psychological practice and consulting practice in Edmonton,Alberta and Hamilton, Ontario. She specializes in using the arts, play, and somatic therapy to work with children, teens,adults, families, and groups both within institutions and unconventional learning spaces. As an educator and counsellor, Michelle uses the performing arts — embodied ways of being and knowing — to encourage students and clients to critically engage in new ways of learning and inquiry. Michelle further shares her passion for using performance to inspire healing, conflict transformation, community building, and creative solutions to social and racial justice issues as a member of Third Space Playback Theatre Edmonton. Her recent performance credits include online performances of Free Play:
Open-Source Scripts Towards an Anti-Racist Tomorrow (CollideOscope Repertory Theatre Company, 2020), Anansi Came (Branch Out Theatre, 2020) (live and on-line).
