Ava Marie is a Canadian Certified Counsellor who completed her Master of Counselling Psychology at
Yorkville University. She is a Black woman of Caribbean ancestry, who has made Canada her home since
the year 2010.
Her clinical approach is grounded in the principles of authenticity and compassion. Throughout her
career, Ava Marie has used these guiding values to support clients in various settings including
outpatient mental health & addiction clinics, schools both locally and internationally, acute-care
settings, and private practice.
Ava Marie has a keen interest in working with humans who feel broken or wounded emotionally,
relationally, spiritually because of experiences with addiction, substance use, culture, religion and sexual
trauma. She also understands the importance of offering treatment that is sensitive to visible and
invisible disabilities. It is her goal to provide a safe space for all clients to heal and play an active role in
their mental health treatment.
Ava Marie enjoys spending time with family and close friends, playing scrabble or watching Korean
dramas. She is raising two sons with 13 years difference between them.
She is excited to work in ABTN’s culture of genuineness, vision and clinical growth.
