Services – Alberta Black Therapists Network

The Alberta Black Therapists Network has therapy for individuals-children and adults, couples and families offered by individual therapists at their private practices (Group sessions available a la carte). They can be contacted on their page found at “find a therapist”. Therapeutic services are subject to fees set by the regulatory bodies.

ABTN offers a variety of psycho-educational presentations to the community in school settings, in “lunch and learns” format at work and coaching seminars on various topics. Some topics that we have facilitated include:
Community/Workplace :

Mental health in the workplace.
Building resiliency -a mental health lens.
Racial awareness in counselling.
Navigating “balance” in creating a balanced lifestyle.
Destigmatizing mental health in the black community.
Cross cultural behaviour switching – looking at interviews with a culturally informed lens.
Becoming diverse and increasing equity.
Understanding impacts of trauma

TOPICS:

Anxiety in Children.
Becoming emotionally intelligent.
“Kids have stress too”- talking about stress in school.
Zones of regulation Increasing coping skills.
Conflict resolution.

In addition, ABTN can offer organizational consultation services to increase diversity, inclusion and anti-racism practices. This can be offered in the form of professional development presentations, conference presentations, panel discussions, mental health capacity building or long term consulting services to companies and organizations.

ABTN therapists can offer consultation services for individuals that need assistance in achieving professional registration in Alberta. Clinicians in this capacity are not working at a clinician role but are consultations and do not guarantee full registration.
