Atsimbom is a caring personality who is naturally drawn toward assisting others. She has a bachelor’s degree in history, an MBA, a master’s degree in counselling psychology, and a doctorate degree in developmental psychology with a specialization in Child and Adolescent development. She is passionate about making sure that everyone has access to the necessary information and resources they need to look after their mental health. She believes that people are facing mental health issues, but that due to many factors, this topic is not being openly discussed.
Atsimbom has worked with several mental health organizations in Africa, Europe and the Calgary area, and is now leveraging her experience to give back to her community. Her competence in using various counselling modalities has informed her practice in counselling children, youth, adults, and couples.
“I operate using a culturally sensitive lens and understand how important faith can be to some people. I incorporate aspects of my client’s unique cultures into therapy as they request. This enables me to build rewarding, therapeutic relationships with my clients. My goal is to meet my clients where they are”, (Atsimbom).
No matter where you are on your journey or what challenges you’re facing, you are welcome here—exactly as you are. I strive to create a space where you feel seen, heard, and understood, with trust, authenticity, and cultural understanding at the core of my approach. Through curiosity, collaboration, and a touch of humour (because therapy shouldn’t feel so heavy all the time!), I aim to support you in a way that honours both who you are now and who you’re becoming.
My practice is rooted in an anti-oppressive, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and intersectional lens. I am deeply committed to working with individuals from all walks of life, with a particular passion for supporting Racialized and LGBTQIA2S+ communities. I take a holistic approach to mental wellness, recognizing the deep connection between mind, body, culture, relationships, and identity. By drawing from a range of therapeutic modalities, I tailor each session to fit your unique needs and goals.
At the heart of my work is the belief that healing happens in relationships. I take the time to truly understand your story, creating an inclusive, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, cultural identity, relationships, or other challenges, I’m here to walk alongside you.
I offer in-person and virtual therapy sessions for individuals in Calgary, Alberta. I am registered as a Counselling Therapist here in Alberta. I am also registered as a Canadian Certified Counsellor, which allows me to provide virtual therapy to clients across Canada, and as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), I am happy to offer virtual sessions to individuals residing in Ontario.
You don’t have to go through your challenges alone. If you’re ready to take the next step, I’d be honoured to support you
Are you experiencing a low moment? Are you stuck? Do you feel alone? Are your emotions and
thoughts everywhere? Do you communicate and do not feel heard? Are you looking at improving your self-esteem, parenting style, sex life, or general well-being? Are you looking at reducing stress, or treating anxiety and/or depression?
Modupe is a Canadian Certified Counselor with years of experience working with people from diverse backgrounds. As an immigrant, mother, and wife who came into Canada with children of different ages, I had to learn and relearn new ways to cope with my reality. I can relate to some of the challenges families, parents, or single parents face as newcomers in Canada.
I am well-versed in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Tree of Life Narrative (TOL) with positive and effective outcomes with clients of diverse cultural backgrounds. I can therefore help you build communication and coping skills that can enable you deal with grief, anxiety, depression, personal growth, parenting, cultural biases, conflict resolution, stress, anger management, and self-esteem issues.
I will collaborate with you using research-based techniques that fit your needs and uniqueness. I also have passion in helping women enjoy their sex life and communicate their needs clearly without feeling guilty.
I create a safe space for clients to share their thoughts, fears, and worries without any fear of being judged. Your mental health is important; hence prioritize your needs and give yourself the pampering you deserve by booking a session to see a therapist.
I personally believe that connection and the therapeutic relationship built between therapist and client is what can help us to heal and grow. My practice is based on building a genuine connection with you in order to help you become empowered to reach your goals. When working with me, you can feel confident that you will receive compassionate, caring and confidential therapy that focuses on your individual and unique needs. My desire is for you to leave therapy with a clearer internal sense of how to live based on what is most meaningful to you instead of allowing external events and people to determine that for you.
I am not a stranger to the highs and lows that happen in life. I draw from these experiences when I offer understanding and support to my clients. Asking for help can be a very terrifying decision to make, particularly when you are not sure whom to go to for help, what you need help for or do not truly believe in the process of counselling. I recognize the courage it takes to ask for help and the brave first step it is into the pursuit of personal well-being.
Professionally I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and I hold a Masters of Arts (MA) in Counselling Psychology. I have over 15 years of experience working with marginalized populations and I have experience working with a variety of modalities such as Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Psychodynamic theories, and I individualize sessions to complement each client’s unique needs.

I believe that life comes with a myriad of experiences, some of which can be painful, confusing and devastating. Sometimes we encounter situations that seem impossible to overcome. It may be difficult to confide in others for fear of judgement or loss of approval. Sometimes we find it difficult to be vulnerable because we fear that others may not understand us or that they may not be equipped to provide us with the support we need. I believe that we do not have to accept that painful experiences and regretful choices of the past define us and our future. I believe that therapy can help us find the clarity and insight that is needed to obtain a better understanding of ourselves and our experiences as well as heal us. I believe that the first stage of healing begins with that first call to seek therapy.
I draw upon several theoretical orientations, the primary ones being Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Transactional Analysis Therapy (TAT), Gestalt Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. I am also trained in EMDR Therapy, a therapy that has been found to be effective for trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). These approaches are grounded in research and have been found to be effective in creating positive results in therapy.
I take the time to listen and understand my clients and their experiences and formulate a treatment plan that works best and is specific to their unique needs as individuals. I ensure that I remain up-to-date with new and current research so that my clients have access to the best treatments to ensure and maintain high standards of service for my clients. I provide individual counselling in a wide variety of areas which include but are not limited to depression, anxiety, trauma, life crisis, abuse, grief. I also support adult survivors of adverse childhood experiences and suicide loss survivors.
