My expertise is BIPOC individuals in the 16 – 35+ age range navigating relationship issues, self-exploration, life and career transitions, trauma, self-esteem issues, stress, anxiety, and family conflict. Navigating challenges in family life can cause us to feel disconnected, exhausted, and frustrated among other things. Whether ongoing or temporary, they can erode our ability to tap into the very things that have supported us so far—our strengths, values, and tenacity. I am here to support you and/or your child with many sticky concerns including relational difficulties, shifts in mood (anger, shutting down), parenting challenges, life transitions, trauma, grief, anxiety, & depression.
I started “Connect Psychotherapy & Counselling” years ago to offer a unique place to address the diverse needs of the married, dating, single, adults and children. My goal is for each client to work at their own pace, feel listened to and understand, and address their most important issue. I have over 10 years experienced in helping clients find coping strategies, heal from trauma, build or repair their most important relationships, get postnatal mental health care, and find meaning as they navigate suffering, grief, loss and difficult life transitions.
I have a wide range of specialized trainings to address unique clients needs e.g. Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples; Emotionally Focused Family Therapy for families; EMDR for trauma; Theraplay and Synergetic Play Therapy for children and their parents; and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solutions Focused Therapy for individuals.
I am very big on evidenced based knowledge r.g. the knowledge on nervous system research and its impact on mental health and healing. All my techniques are influenced by Interpersonal Neurobiology and Polyvagal Theory. These two big words mean our body and nervous system hold on to things even though we think we’ve gotten past them. This knowledge helps us to find your inner strength and build safety in the room so we can work on the really tough things and begin to heal.

I see strength as an innate characteristic in all people and that the best resource is the people themselves. However, in times of pain and hardship it can be difficult to see that strength. I believe in exploring those strengths together with people in a non-judgmental, safe, and supportive environment that empowers them to make the positive changes to live a happy and fulfilled life.
As a registered social worker (RSW) with a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Calgary, and authorized to perform psychosocial assessment by Alberta College of Social Workers, I have over 14 years’ experience as a clinician on the frontline and leadership teams. I have a wide range of experiences supporting people struggling with addictions, mental health concerns, abuse, anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, trauma, grief and loss, relationship concerns, behavioral problems, cluttering, anger management, and parenting issues. I provide counselling to youth, adults, individuals, couples, and families. I am culturally sensitive and passionate about working with diverse populations.
My approach to counselling is highly collaborative, client-centered, and individually tailored to meet client specific needs. I create a space where my clients can feel heard, respected, and understood.
