Hi! My name is Sharon and I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist committed to supporting individuals on their mental health journey with care, compassion, and cultural sensitivity. I am passionate about creating a safe, affirming space where you feel seen, heard, and empowered to show up as your whole self.
I grew up in an African community where conversations about mental health were not often had. That experience shaped my deep commitment to challenging stigma and increasing mental health awareness. I believe that therapy should be accessible, affirming, and rooted in understanding the complexities of culture, identity, and community.
My practice is grounded in an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and intersectional lens. I understand that healing does not happen in isolation—it is connected to culture, history, and lived experience. I work collaboratively with clients to unpack emotional challenges, build self-awareness, and move toward growth and resilience.
Atsimbom is a caring personality who is naturally drawn toward assisting others. She has a bachelor’s degree in history, an MBA, a master’s degree in counselling psychology, and a doctorate degree in developmental psychology with a specialization in Child and Adolescent development. She is passionate about making sure that everyone has access to the necessary information and resources they need to look after their mental health. She believes that people are facing mental health issues, but that due to many factors, this topic is not being openly discussed.
Atsimbom has worked with several mental health organizations in Africa, Europe and the Calgary area, and is now leveraging her experience to give back to her community. Her competence in using various counselling modalities has informed her practice in counselling children, youth, adults, and couples.
“I operate using a culturally sensitive lens and understand how important faith can be to some people. I incorporate aspects of my client’s unique cultures into therapy as they request. This enables me to build rewarding, therapeutic relationships with my clients. My goal is to meet my clients where they are”, (Atsimbom).
No matter where you are on your journey or what challenges you’re facing, you are welcome here—exactly as you are. I strive to create a space where you feel seen, heard, and understood, with trust, authenticity, and cultural understanding at the core of my approach. Through curiosity, collaboration, and a touch of humour (because therapy shouldn’t feel so heavy all the time!), I aim to support you in a way that honours both who you are now and who you’re becoming.
My practice is rooted in an anti-oppressive, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and intersectional lens. I am deeply committed to working with individuals from all walks of life, with a particular passion for supporting Racialized and LGBTQIA2S+ communities. I take a holistic approach to mental wellness, recognizing the deep connection between mind, body, culture, relationships, and identity. By drawing from a range of therapeutic modalities, I tailor each session to fit your unique needs and goals.
At the heart of my work is the belief that healing happens in relationships. I take the time to truly understand your story, creating an inclusive, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, cultural identity, relationships, or other challenges, I’m here to walk alongside you.
I offer in-person and virtual therapy sessions for individuals in Calgary, Alberta. I am registered as a Counselling Therapist here in Alberta. I am also registered as a Canadian Certified Counsellor, which allows me to provide virtual therapy to clients across Canada, and as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), I am happy to offer virtual sessions to individuals residing in Ontario.
You don’t have to go through your challenges alone. If you’re ready to take the next step, I’d be honoured to support you
Welcome to your journey of becoming your best self.

Greetings,
I am a registered provisional psychologist dedicated to providing individuals of various backgrounds and individuals from Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities
culturally informed trauma therapy. With a deep understanding of the unique experiences and challenges faced by marginalized populations, I am committed to creating a safe and inclusive space where clients can explore their traumatic experiences and work towards healing.
I use evidence-based therapeutic techniques, tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual. I understand that trauma manifests differently within different cultural frameworks, and I am committed to integrating culturally relevant practices to ensure effective treatment. Together, we can address the emotional, psychological, and social impacts of trauma, whether it be from personal experiences, historical trauma, or systemic oppression.
My approach to therapy is rooted in cultural sensitivity, respect, and empowerment. I draw upon evidence-based therapeutic techniques and interventions, including Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), narrative therapy, and mindfulness tailored to the specific needs of each individual, taking into account their cultural background, values, and beliefs. Together, we can address the emotional, psychological, and social impacts of trauma, and the intersectionality of identity and trauma whether it be from personal experiences, historical trauma, or systemic oppression. I strive to support clients in their resilience, growth, and healing journey.
Whether you are navigating the impact of intergenerational trauma, anxiety, stress, grief and personal hardships, I am here to offer you an empathetic ear, a nonjudgmental presence, and the tools necessary to navigate your healing process. We can cultivate a therapeutic relationship built on trust, collaboration, and understanding.
At Roadside Therapies, I’m dedicated to helping individuals reconnect with themselves and find genuine relief from trauma, anxiety, and life’s many challenges. My practice is grounded in a holistic perspective, inspired by generations of natural healing traditions that prioritize meeting each client exactly where they are.
My goal is to provide a compassionate, effective therapeutic experience that helps clients find peace, self-trust, and sustainable healing. Let’s work together to navigate your unique path forward.

As your psychotherapist, I will employ a tailored multidimensional approach that takes into consideration your trauma and cultural context, while collaboratively selecting therapeutic tools to cultivate wholeness.
Whether it’s anxiety from relationships, pressure from work, or a disconnect between your values and decisions, we all can feel lost at times. Maybe you know exactly where you desire change, or you are uncertain and don’t know where to start, I’m here to help! My goal is to work alongside you to create a space for you to engage in self-discovery, process life events, unlearn unhelpful beliefs and behaviours, build coping skills, and work towards inner peace that often feels eluding. Together we can re-gain a sense of control over your life and mental health as no matter what’s led you here, I believe in the human capacity to adapt and grow with the right support.
My expertise is BIPOC individuals in the 16 – 35+ age range navigating relationship issues, self-exploration, life and career transitions, trauma, self-esteem issues, stress, anxiety, and family conflict. You being here is a big step, as I know from personal experience finding a therapist who “gets you” can be overwhelming, especially for those of us from racialized communities. During our time together, we will explore your current circumstances and create a plan for moving you closer to where you desire to be.

It’s common for people to ask me why I left a successful career in IT management for clinical psychology. The answer is simple: compassion and passion. I prefer working with people to working with machines, and I’m passionate about helping others achieve their goals. My calling is to support people on their journey towards self-discovery and personal growth.
