Hello, my name is Dotun, which translates to “renew” or “become new” in Yoruba language, I feel this also reflects my commitment to helping clients renew their perspectives and use practical solutions that can be easily sustained, regardless of their lifestyles.. I am a Registered Psychologist in Alberta; I have training and experience to provide support in counselling and rehabilitation psychology. I support individuals, couples, children, and youth in diverse areas including discrimination, parenting, bullying/harassment (workplace and school), stress / burnout management, emotional regulation, and self–concept. I also offer psychological assessments to support awareness of natural learning tendencies, personality, behavior’s, and psychological functioning. I provide support using different modalities including solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and narrative therapy. I enjoy collaborating in ways that encourage the planning and execution of desired changes despite the current challenges and complexities. Self-authoring can be a rewarding process when time is spent in self-exploration to increase self-awareness, personal strengths, capacity, and flexibility. Concepts such as self–efficacy, mindfulness, unconditional respect, and dignity are important parts of co-creating the changes that you want to construct in your life story.
To balance life and work, I intentionally practice self-care by spending time with friends, family, eating good food (Jollof Rice for sure!); taking walks, travelling, and volunteering. I look forward to supporting you in rearranging your story by taking care of your greatest asset; your mind.
