Life can be difficult and reaching out to a therapist takes a lot of courage. If you’ve experienced challenges in your life due to childhood trauma, relationship difficulties, life stress, or grief events, I can help. I work with individuals, couples, and families (16+) struggling with communication, understanding racial/cultural impacts on identity, and overcoming trauma experiences. I also have extensive experience supporting survivors of sexual trauma and will work with you to develop safety in your body. My approach to therapy is pro-Black, pro-choice, pro-queer, pro-trans and focuses on being an affirming therapist.
I am known to be a direct therapist who is not afraid of big feelings. I have training in Emotionally Focused Family Therapy- EFFT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy- ACT, Accelerated Resolution Therapy- ART, and Tree of Life. I use my training to identify how trauma impacts your relationships and we will work together to develop new coping strategies.
Areas of support include childhood sexual abuse, other sexual trauma, grief events (e.g., deaths, pregnancy loss, migration), relationship difficulties, pre-marital/cohabitation therapy, etc. I recognize the importance of finding a therapist who “gets it” and have professional and personal experiences with grief and trauma as a first-generation Canadian.
