Hi! My name is Sharon and I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist committed to supporting individuals on their mental health journey with care, compassion, and cultural sensitivity. I am passionate about creating a safe, affirming space where you feel seen, heard, and empowered to show up as your whole self.
I grew up in an African community where conversations about mental health were not often had. That experience shaped my deep commitment to challenging stigma and increasing mental health awareness. I believe that therapy should be accessible, affirming, and rooted in understanding the complexities of culture, identity, and community.
My practice is grounded in an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and intersectional lens. I understand that healing does not happen in isolation—it is connected to culture, history, and lived experience. I work collaboratively with clients to unpack emotional challenges, build self-awareness, and move toward growth and resilience.
Greetings,
I am a registered provisional psychologist dedicated to providing individuals of various backgrounds and individuals from Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities
culturally informed trauma therapy. With a deep understanding of the unique experiences and challenges faced by marginalized populations, I am committed to creating a safe and inclusive space where clients can explore their traumatic experiences and work towards healing.
I use evidence-based therapeutic techniques, tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual. I understand that trauma manifests differently within different cultural frameworks, and I am committed to integrating culturally relevant practices to ensure effective treatment. Together, we can address the emotional, psychological, and social impacts of trauma, whether it be from personal experiences, historical trauma, or systemic oppression.
My approach to therapy is rooted in cultural sensitivity, respect, and empowerment. I draw upon evidence-based therapeutic techniques and interventions, including Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), narrative therapy, and mindfulness tailored to the specific needs of each individual, taking into account their cultural background, values, and beliefs. Together, we can address the emotional, psychological, and social impacts of trauma, and the intersectionality of identity and trauma whether it be from personal experiences, historical trauma, or systemic oppression. I strive to support clients in their resilience, growth, and healing journey.
Whether you are navigating the impact of intergenerational trauma, anxiety, stress, grief and personal hardships, I am here to offer you an empathetic ear, a nonjudgmental presence, and the tools necessary to navigate your healing process. We can cultivate a therapeutic relationship built on trust, collaboration, and understanding.

Life is unpredictable, and resilience is crucial in facing its challenges. I believe in the inherent strength within each of us and am here to guide you through a journey of empowerment, healing, and growth. If you’re ready to take the next step, let’s get started together!
My name is Shirwa Ali. I am a psychologist born in Somalia but raised here. I am passionate about helping others especially those who grew up in a similar reality. I am committed to helping people navigate their mental and emotional challenges using evidence based practices. I firmly believe that every person deserves a safe and supportive environment to explore their inner world and develop strategies for personal growth and healing. My goal is to walk with you on your journey with compassion, empathy and non-judgment.
Whether we believe it or not, our lived experiences have created a core belief about ourselves and influences a core language we use to describe ourselves, which prevents us from being our authentic self or the desire to change. Here’s a truth, you have permission. You have the permission to change, to grow, to develop, to advocate for what you need, create new habits and, to unlearn and learn again. The beauty in the journey is you don’t have to do it alone and I’m here to journey with you.
I believe that you know your story best. Utilizing modalities such as CBT, Solution focused and Narrative therapy to support you bringing meaning to your lived experiences. I support individuals with navigating through life transitions, anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, spirituality, trauma and more.
It is my desire to hold space for you in the therapeutic relationship and that you feel heard, validated, affirmed and at times challenged all in a joint effort to get you where you want to be holistically.
Whether it’s anxiety from relationships, pressure from work, or a disconnect between your values and decisions, we all can feel lost at times. Maybe you know exactly where you desire change, or you are uncertain and don’t know where to start, I’m here to help! My goal is to work alongside you to create a space for you to engage in self-discovery, process life events, unlearn unhelpful beliefs and behaviours, build coping skills, and work towards inner peace that often feels eluding. Together we can re-gain a sense of control over your life and mental health as no matter what’s led you here, I believe in the human capacity to adapt and grow with the right support.
My expertise is BIPOC individuals in the 16 – 35+ age range navigating relationship issues, self-exploration, life and career transitions, trauma, self-esteem issues, stress, anxiety, and family conflict. You being here is a big step, as I know from personal experience finding a therapist who “gets you” can be overwhelming, especially for those of us from racialized communities. During our time together, we will explore your current circumstances and create a plan for moving you closer to where you desire to be.
Change can be hard, but you don’t have to do this alone! I offer in-person services in Edmonton and Alberta-wide virtually. My primary approach uses CBT, ACT, SFBT, and strengths-based therapy through a cultural relevancy lense. Wherever you are in your journey, I’d love to connect! I offer in-person meetings in Edmonton and work virtually elsewhere – offer direct billing with Alberta Blue Cross, Medavie, Greenshield Dejardins and Canada Life and receipts for other EHB plans. Feel free to reach out for a consultation or checkout my site for info!
